The good news is: it doesn’t need to be this way. Know what your employees want

Rather than giving your employees what you think they need or want…take the time to learn what it is they really want. While this may sound like a no-brainer, it is not yet common practice among businesses! John Boitnott, VIP contributor for Entrepreneur.com, wrote a recent blog that outlines some key employee wants (as he says, it is more than just perks and privileges!). From mentoring to work life balance and beyond, providing your employees with what they truly want/need increases your own credibility, and the loyalty of everyone involved. In a world of poor employee retention, you can’t afford not to take this step!

Keep ego out of it
[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1580917810771{margin-bottom: 2.5% !important;}”]
The fact of the matter is simple: we don’t know everything. Each of your employees has their own skillset, and this means they might have better ideas and solutions than you for certain problems. Encourage them to speak up! If you’re able to keep your ego out of your interactions, you show everyone you work with that they matter. You care about their opinions, and you want your team to be just that, a team. Admit when you make a mistake – showing you’re human and that you care about the impact you make on your team will go a million miles. If you let ego rule, you’ll find yourself in a poor work climate, and likely losing out on clients, big wins, and revolutionary ideas.

Ask for help
[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1580917854512{margin-bottom: 2.5% !important;}”]
One of the best things you can do as a leader is ask for help. This shows your employees that they too can ask for help when they need it, and not be ashamed! Whether there is an internal issue you need help with, or a larger project you need to hire an outside consultant for, do it. The benefits you will see, from goals met on time, to sticking to a budget, to solving a key business problem, will outweigh any negatives. Part of the strength you can develop when asking for help, is knowing when to go internal and when to go external. If you master this, you’ve mastered another level of success for business.

The three tips above are just some of many small ones that can help you become the best leader, manager and team member possible. Our advice is simple: don’t be overwhelmed! Invest time to know your situation, know your strengths, and know your team. This will help you determine where you can improve yourself and improve your business.
