PChange is business in inevitable – if you don’t change, and evolve with the times, you face business failure. In today’s climate, with more multi-generational workforces and an ever faster moving technology aspect, change is occurring at a more rapid pace….and many are having a hard time keeping up. We don’t want that to be your reality, because we want YOU to be successful in all your business endeavors. To help, we’ve highlighted three steps that will help you prepare and stay prepared for business change:

Be realistic with employees

The focus in business has shifted greatly over the past few years to the employees. Hiring them, retaining them, training them, etc. And for good cause, because your employees really do make your business successful, especially in times of change. So, be honest and forthcoming with information and possible changes that might occur, both big and small. If you keep them informed along the way, it reduces fear and prevents worry about how they might be negatively impacted. Show them the opportunities change can bring and they will be eager to help make any transition successful.

Communicate, and then do it more!
[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1572294858977{margin-bottom: 2.5% !important;}”]
Communication is key in all business interactions, but especially so when change is occurring or about to occur. But you have to make sure you are communicating correctly, and hearing what your employees and peers are saying. As BJ Bueno of Cult Branding said “Make communication a two-way process. Talk but also listen, especially to people who are resistant to change.” By listening, you can ensure that everyone’s voice is heard and more easily bring everyone on board, with little or no internal resistance.

Know your culture
[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1572294961670{margin-bottom: 2.5% !important;}”]
We all know that company culture is important but we might be a little tired of hearing about it. Company culture is one of the main elements that sets your business apart. While some aspects of company culture are bound to morph during company or client change, it is important to make sure the core of the company does not. Your beliefs, what the company stands for, what the employees love and value – all of these have to continue on no matter what change is occurring. Otherwise you will find yourself 10 steps back, instead of moving forward. So, know the core of your company, listen to what your employees say, and make sure you keep what makes you, you no matter what.

While change can be scary and overwhelming, there are small, everyday steps you can be taking to make it much less so. The three steps outlined above are some of many that can help you immediately. Don’t wait, start preparing for change now, so you are not scrambling for focus down the line.
